Volcano Ark

Volcano Ark  (火山方舟) is ByteDance’s model service platform. It exposes an OpenAI-compatible API, so it can be used with bookistudios AI as a standard provider.

Ark serves models such as the Doubao family (doubao-pro, doubao-lite, doubao-vision) and hosts open-weight models. You address a model by its endpoint ID, which you create in the Ark console.

Step 1 — Create an endpoint

  1. Sign in to the Volcano Engine console  and open Ark.
  2. Under Model Inference → Online Inference, create an endpoint for the model you want to use.
  3. Copy the endpoint ID — it starts with ep- and is your model value.

Step 2 — Set the API key

Create the API key in the Ark console under API Key Management, then export it:

Step 3 — Point bookistudios AI at Ark

Notes

  • The endpoint is OpenAI-compatible — no proxy or adapter is required.
  • Model capacity and rate limits are managed per endpoint in the Ark console.
  • If you switch models, create a new endpoint and update the model value — no other configuration changes.
Setup
